However, in a video posted by OTRO, the Argentine star was seen undertaking running, shooting and strength drills on sand as he edges closer to a return.

During the summer Messi featured for Argentina in the Copa America, meaning he was late to return for pre-season training.
After getting injured in training, Messi has endured a frustrating time and it seems clear that Barcelona need the forward, who scored 51 goals in 50 games last season, to help improve their fortunes.
