A huge mega-mall that features a Nickelodeon theme park and a DreamWorks water park with 35 slides, as well as 450 shops, is set to open next month near New York City.

The complex, called American Dream, is located in East Rutherford, New Jersey – five miles from Manhattan as the crow flies – and will welcome guests from October 25.

It is housed in a three-million-square-foot building, which will also include America’s first indoor snow park, a Coca-Cola Experience and have an observation wheel outside.

The Nickelodeon attraction, officially called Nickelodeon Universe, will be the largest indoor theme park in the Western Hemisphere when it opens.

It will be home, it’s claimed, to the world’s steepest roller coaster, The Shellraiser, which is based on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The ride will feature a vertical lift hill that will take the roller coaster’s cars 141 feet up into the roof, where riders will get a glimpse of the New York City skyline through windows in the building before plummeting down the steepest drop in the world – at 121.5 degrees.

Meanwhile, Nickelodeon Universe will also have The Shredder, the world’s tallest and longest spinning coaster, which will reach speeds of over 60mph.

Other rides in the park will be based on Nickelodeon shows including Dora the Explorer, Paw Patrol and Spongebob Squarepants.

In the DreamWorks water park, as well as the 35 slides, there will be the world’s largest indoor pool, a lazy river and 31 luxury cabanas that have ‘prime views of Manhattan’.

Meanwhile, Big Snow Ski and Snowboard Park, the indoor snow park, will have a 16-storey ski slope, where guests can learn to ski.

There will also be an NHL-regulation ice rink as well as ski chalets for hire.

Other attractions on offer inside the mega mall will include a Legoland Discovery Centre, a Sea Life Aquarium, a CMX luxury movie theater and a performing arts center.

When it comes to dining, there will be over 100 options, including a Coca-Cola food hall and a kosher food hall.

While shops at the mall will include Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys New York, Hermes, Tiffany & Company and Dolce & Gabbana.
